We’re excited to introduce you to Ruby, the creative force behind @sshepaints. With a passion for fostering connections, Ruby leads with a beautiful blend of art and lifestyle. Her work encourages people to gather, share a glass of wine, and celebrate the joy of connection. Every piece she creates reflects this, making her art a beautiful reminder of the connections we cherish. We’ve asked Ruby a few questions so you can get to know her a little better. All of the art, and motifs in this journal are Ruby's vibrant creations.

Hi Ruby!! Introduce yourself, tell us where you were born & raised, and where you are currently living now?

Hello!! I’m Ruby, an Artist based out of Brighton! Which is where I grew up - We live just around the corner from our studio which is great. I was born in London but moved down to the sea when I was little.

What is it like living there? Do you have a favourite local market/ restaurant?

Yes, Brighton is the best - The lanes where we live is the best part. So many lovely bars and cafes all around there. It’s a very creative place and having our studio right in the middle of the lanes is so inspiring.

As a creative I know you do many things, but could you explain to us what you currently do at the moment?

I mainly work on illustrations for brands/commissions for people. The drawings can be digital or painted. They are mostly of people eating and drinking wine - I also have been shooting lots of content for Instagram and growing my audience there which is a great way of getting my work out there.

What inspires your art?

The stories people send me when we are working on a commission. The everyday mundane dinner time or cups of coffee together.

Tell us in a few words, what does a typical and most adored day look like in your world.

Walking the dog, Freda. Getting a coffee and pottering to our studio. Getting some work done.. which I feel so lucky to really enjoy! I share my studio with my fiancé Lewis, so it’s lovely to be there together. Then cooking a yummy dinner!

I saw a TikTok of yours where you said “I love connecting with people and I want to make work that makes people want to drink wine together” that’s so beautiful. Where are your top 3 favourite places to drink wine with the people you love?

Paris, Greece, South of France...
Of course, these don’t happen super often.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! What has been your favourite part about your journey into motherhood so far?

Thank you thats so kind! We are very excited - I just can’t believe my body is growing a human. I feel so grateful like I’ve been given the best gift in the world!

You look so beautiful in your Rumi gown, what is your favourite part about this piece?

I love how comfortable it is - comfort is a huge part of my everyday dressing. I love how at Oak Meadow you play with femininity, I’m really coming into my feminine era with being pregnant and your pieces are so beautiful.

If you could travel and do anything in the entire world right now, what would it be?

I would probably go back to Greece and sunbathe until this baby is born haha

What are three words that describe you?

To finish our journal, one last question… Cat or Dog?!

DOG.
